London’s Best Pub in the Design My Night Awards for 2018
For those of us who don’t live in Acton, we sometimes wish we did. The reason..? Well, it’s because of The Aeronaut pub. You may be wondering why we think that this pub is so special that we wished we lived within walking distance of it.
The answer is simple; it’s not just a pub. It boasts a circus, a virtual reality (VR) machine, a photo booth, comedy acts, bands, pantomimes and it’s even been known to serve the odd pint or two :)
The Aeronaut is certainly different from most ‘local boozers’ insofar as they go to a lot of effort to make the place seriously entertaining for their Acton patrons.
Unfortunately for our lorry drivers who are busy clearing Acton’s waste passing through Acton, we don’t let them pop in for some virtual reality entertainment but if we did, what could they expect? Well, The VR is now a permanent fixture at the place and it looks amazing. Basically, you don your headset and immerse yourself in a rollercoaster ride of 21st century 3D fun. You can go on an alien hunt, shoot down some spaceships, listen to music whilst you enjoy mountain top views or just relax with a bit of archery practice.
The times that the VR is available will vary – At certain times you can just walk in and play whilst at other times you’ll need to book in advance so you’ll need to check the Aeronaut website first.
Whilst pubs that host comedy nights is certainly nothing new, the Aeronaut do their best to round up some of the best comedians currently on the UK circuit. As of writing, the comedy night is currently on Thursdays but check first to see if this has changed.
A couple of options are available for this Sunday Munch-Fest. For a pretty reasonable price, you get to choose from a range of different burgers, buns, jams and salads. If you’re happy to pay a bit extra then you’ll get a 2-hour slot to guzzle an unlimited amount of either Sangria, Bellini’s or Laine Source Pale Ale. A nice added touch is that despite the BBQ name, there are also vegetarian options too.
Saturday is Brunch day
If you’re not around for the Sunday stuffing, you can enjoy brunch on Saturday. Similar to the ‘bottomless’ Sunday, there are also bottomless brunch options too if you’re prepared to ‘fork’ out (see what we did there?) a bit extra. You can also enjoy a range of entertainment along with your food and drink
The La La Bar
Yep, you may have guessed, as the name suggests, the La La bar involves singing…lots of singing! Currently, this takes place every Thursday to Sunday. So.., who’s doing the singing? Is it someone on a nearby stage or someone at another table? Nope! It’s actually one the staff who’ll be serving you drinks and taking your food order – You certainly won’t get that down most local venues. If you don’t believe us, have a look at the video below and see for yourself.
Where is the Aeronaut?
If, after reading this, you’ve decided to visit, here’s the address:
264 ACTON HIGH STREET, LONDON W3 9BH
As the heading of this post eluded to, you may not be surprised to learn that this quirky and original pub (if you can even call it that) has won the London’s Best Pub in the Design My Night awards for 2018. So what are you waiting for? Get on down there and prepare to be amazed. Oh, and don’t forget to let us know how it went!
